The new chick baby should live in a large carton box for 2 or 3 weeks. If the temperature is proper (not too cold or too hot), the carton box could be placed in the garage. After 3-week’s box life, the chicken becomes stronger and could live in a chicken coop or house.

Between the chicken coop and the ground, there should be a distance, to be waterproof. The holes of the wire fence outside the chicken house should be small to avoid other wild animals entering. The wire fence should be buried at least one foot into the ground to prevent animals such as weasels from burrowing in. Cover the coop with a light but strong plastic net to prevent eagles from picking up the chicks.
